HISTORY

The study program of Communication Sciences University of Mataram was established on June 3, 2014 by decree of Higher Education No. 132 / E / O / 2014. The study program was established to accommodate the wishes and needs of the community for continuing education in the field of communication. In the early stages of Communication Studies Program prepares two concentration / interest that were the study of Journalism and Public Relations (PR).

Implementation of the study program is managed by the chairman and secretary of the program that its structure is directly under the Rector of the University of Mataram. The Communication Study Program has 6 teachers, Two with doctoral qualification and four masters. To carry out the teaching and learning process in some general courses, this Program is supported by lecturer of General Courses provided by the University with a doctorate qualification. Admissions for the first generation students (academic year 2014/2015) was carried out through university independent selection. The number of applicants who enroll were as many as 180 people, but capacity set by the University was as many as 51 people.

Mission

  1. To carry out education on communication field on the basis of theoretical, empirical, holistic, contextual and responsive to the demands of development and the demands of stakeholders (government agencies, business organizations, and social institutions).
  2. To develop research activities (both commercial and policy) to formulate various alternative communication approaches in the process of sustainable development which is useful for the academic community, government and society.
  3. To conduct community service activities through the application of science and technology communication in the framework of community empowerment.
  4. To apply the principles of quality assurance in academic and community services.

Profile of Graduates

The Graduates if Communications Program are capable in carrying out the work in the field of :

Journalism:

reporter, photographer, cameraman, lay-outman, managing editor, editor in chief, and leader of the company, news presenter, news anchors, field reporters, news producer, tv programmer, production house staff, talent scouting, camera person, an audio visual editor, dubber , tv mixer, tv switcher, floor director, tv news producer, radio programmer, radio reporter.

Public Relation:

corporate communication specialist, public relations manager, public relations consultant, public opinion analyst, campaign manager, community developers, public relations officer, public relations practitioners in government agencies and private.
